FROM EVERY CORNER: HALLOWEEN TALES

Anthology of short stories by contemporary Brazilian writers

Em Cada Canto: Contos do Dia das Bruxas (loosely translated as From Every Corner: Halloween Tales), a collection organized by the Belo Horizonte Writers’ Club, brings together a remarkable lineup of contemporary authors to celebrate the most mysterious night of the year. Far from the usual clichés, this anthology dives deep into psychological suspense and reimagined ancestral traditions, weaving stories that defy convention in unsettling and diverse settings. The cover art is by Reticolo Soarez Studio.

In A Bruxa e a Goiabeira (roughly translated as The Witch and the Guava Tree), Emanoel Ferreira’s first foray into fantastical regionalism, a young woman’s bond with a tree guarding ancient secrets takes center stage.

Other works featured in the collection include:

Monique de Magalhães’ Observe seus Dentes (Watch Your Teeth), a descent into the mind of a woman trapped by an enigmatic smile.

Heitor Landim’s Demo (Demon), exploring the dire consequences of a dark pact.

Bianca Pontes’ Por Círisa (For Círisa), a haunting tale of vengeance and sacrifice.

Samuel Medina’s O Último Passeio em Pindorama (The Last Ride in Pindorama), set aboard a space station ruled by artificial intelligence.

Leoana Oliveira’s A Última Travessura (The Last Prank), leading readers through the eerie remains of an abandoned amusement park.
